While painters in Tasmania are not required to carry a painting trade licence, they are encouraged to obtain insurance, a business licence (if they employ others) and an Australian Business Number (ABN), if they work in their individual capacity. These items will help protect their business as well as their customers.
In order to be recognised as trade professionals by organisations such as Master Painters Australia, it is recommended that painters obtain a CPC30620 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or RPL assessed equivalent qualification.
