Certificate IV in Hairdressing
Within four weeks of receiving sufficient and complying evidence of competency in all applied for units of competency.
This certificate course acknowledges the knowledge and technical skills of a senior hairdresser who works as part of a team in a coordinating role. You work as a technical adviser in a hairdressing product company, or as an independent freelance session stylist. At this level, functions will include applying knowledge and advanced skills in providing training, support and technical leadership to a team of hairdressers. You may also provide hairdressing services, such as cutting, design, colouring, colour correction, chemical reformation, hair extensions, trichology and even makeup application.

Your dedicated consultant will guide you through the process of putting together a portfolio of evidence. This can contain overseas qualifications, transcripts, certificates, photos and videos, samples or work examples, letters of reference, your current resume, etc.
Once one of our partner registered training organisations (RTOs) has assessed your portfolio, the assessor assigned to your case may be in touch if any additional evidence is required. If you have any weak areas, the RTO may assign a trainer to upskill you at no cost to you.
ITEC Australia is partnered with Registered Training Organisations whose qualifications are nationally recognised in Australia, and are the same as the qualification you would receive from full time study. Qualifications can also be useful for licensing or immigration purposes.
This qualification reflects the role of skilled senior hairdressers who use a range of highly developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients. These senior hairdressers provide specialist services in one or more areas including haircutting, design, colouring and complex colour correction, trichology and chemical reformation. They work independently and many hairdressers at this level provide technical leadership, training and support to team members
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a senior hairdresser in a salon environment, a freelance session stylist or a technical advisor in product companies.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who have:
1. achieved a Certificate III in Hairdressing (or equivalent); and
2. at least one year post-qualification full time employment experience as a hairdresser in a salon environment where they have applied the skills and knowledge covered in the above (or equivalent) qualification.
