Plumbing & Drainage Licence Tasmania

The Department of Justice regulates electrical, gasfitting and plumbing licences in Tasmania.

Requirements

In order to work as a plumber in Tasmania, you must enter into an apprenticeship or plumbing training under a qualified licensed plumber, using a provisional licence before you may obtain a plumbing licence. Upon achievement of a Certificate III in Plumbing or a satisfactory Statement of Results obtained from an RTO, you may apply for a plumber licence.

How to Apply

Follow the process outlined below to apply for your plumbing licence:

  • Obtain the required documents and application forms from the Tasmanian Department of Justice offices, or visit their website to download and print the documents.
  • Lodge your application at your nearest Service Tasmania Shop or the Department of Justice, paying your application fee (approximately $38.25) at the same time.
  • Your application should be processed in approximately 2 weeks.
